HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man is dead after he was shot in the parking lot of a southwest Houston convenience store, according to the Houston Police Department.

Officers said they were called to the store in the 8900 block of Braesmont Drive around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

According to investigators, a man pulled out a firearm and shot another man before fleeing the scene.

Lt. JP Horelica said that detectives pulled surveillance video to see what led up to the shooting, and saw that there was a fight that occurred moments before the shots were fired.

A person who found the victim lying on the grass in the parking lot is the one who called 911.

First responders arrived and attempted to treat the man, but ultimately pronounced him dead at the scene.

Horelica described both the suspect and the victim as men in their late teens or early 20s, and said the suspect is still outstanding.

Officers are urging anyone with information to call HPD or Crime Stoppers.
